Coming off a 2001 regional win and a strong showing in 2002, the Dolly’s Splash Country lifeguard team is hosting the 2003 Ellis and Associates Regional Lifeguard Olympics. There will be nearly a dozen lifeguard teams from across the South competing in lifesaving scenarios. The purpose of the event is three fold:
Competition: To challenge the skills and abilities of E&A guards from across the country in team management scenarios that could potentially occur at their facilities.
Education: To incorporate these scenarios and skills into in-service trainings back at their home facilities.
Fun: To provide an enjoyable forum for lifeguards to compete and socialize with other Ellis and Associates guards from around their region.
What: Lifeguard Olympics
When: Monday, June 30th, Starting at 6:00 PM
Where: Dolly’s Splash Country, Pigeon Forge, TN
- Note: teams will compete in a lifesaving relay and two set rescue scenarios. The highest scores will be combined for a regional winner to compete at the National Championships in California August 1st and 2nd.
- An Ellis representative will be available on site for interviews about the competition. Interviews about summer water safety are also available.
- There are live television opportunities for demonstrations and interviews.
