Grab your swimsuit and head for the mountains, Dolly’s Splash Country is ready to open! For her newest park’s inaugural year, Dolly Parton will have some special guests with a distinctive American feel for the May 19th Grand Opening.
2000 Sydney Olympians Brooke Bennett, Jason Lezak, Mark Ruiz and Ed Moses will be Dolly's guests at the official opening of the park. “Who better to show that Dolly’s Splash Country is good old American fun than a group of champions like these,” Dolly said.
Brooke Bennett is a three time Olympic swimming Gold Medalist and World Champion. After the Sydney Olympic Games she also was honored to have her picture placed on a Wheaties® box. Ed Moses won an Olympic Gold and Silver medal at only his second international competition last summer, which is not bad for a 20-year-old who's been swimming competitively for just over three years. Jason Lezak was on the Gold Medal 400-meter Individual Medley swim team and on the American record-breaking and Silver medal 400-meter Freestyle Relay swim team. Lezak and Moses are also on the 2001 US World Championship swimming team. Joining the swimmers is diver Mark Ruiz. Mark is a 16-time US National Champion and two-time US Diver of the year.
“You don’t need to be an Olympian or professional swimmer to have fun at Dolly’s Splash Country,” Dolly said, “those folks just prove if you dream and want to do something badly enough you can take a fun hobby like swimming or in my case, singing, and reach your dreams.”
Also joining Dolly as a special guest for the Waterpark’s Grand Opening will be the John Torres family from Long Island, New York. John won the national “Name the Waterpark” contest successfully submitting Dolly’s Splash Country as the name for Dolly’s Waterpark. The Torres family will win an outfitter package including a canoe signed by Dolly, Superpasses for Dolly’s Splash Country and Dollywood and other prizes.
